The 2013-2014 academic year marks the 175th year since Judson’s founding. At a time when formal education for women was rare, Judson’s founders sought to establish a school that would provide an academic program for women comparable to the course of study that young men were offered at Harvard and Yale. Since that time, Judson College has been dedicated to preparing young women for purposeful lives through the transmission of knowledge, the refinement of intellect, the nurturing of faith, the promotion of service, and the development of character.
Several events celebrating Judson’s first 175 years have been scheduled, including a celebration at Perry Lakes Park, an Alumnae Choir performance at Vespers 2013, several events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the American civil rights movement, and many other opportunities for alumnae and student involvement. Alumnae, friends, and current and prospective students are invited to celebrate this “auspicious occasion” with us.
