Music (DL)

The Distance Learning Bachelor of Arts in Music (47-51 hours) is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is intended for those who wish to earn a concentration in music within the context of a Liberal Arts education.  Students develop skills in musicianship, capabilities in the use of principles and procedures that lead to an intellectual grasp of the art, and the ability to perform.

In addition to the Bachelor of Arts in Music, we offer a Music Minor and a Church Music Minor. We do not offer a music education degree online.

All of our full-time and adjunct professors are experts in their respective fields, and all have doctoral degrees.

Learn about the components of the Music Major, including required courses, here.

Ready to apply?

To get started, complete the application for admission to the Distance Learning Program, and then download and complete the Music Department Application.  Be sure to include your contact information, objectives, and rationale for pursuing an online degree option.

Then, submit a video recording of a sample performance for evaluation by the Music faculty. The recording can be a vocal or instrumental performance. You can email your recording, or a link to it, to lwashburn@judson.edu. (We find that uploading a video and setting it as “unlisted” on YouTube, then e-mailing the link, works well.)

Candidates must also take Music Theory Exam and the Music Knowledge Placement Exam, proctored by Judson College Distance Learning staff, prior to enrolling. These are not graded exams, but serve as pre-assessment tools in order to place you in appropriate music courses.
