This weekend the Ornithology class took a trip to Dauphin Island for some serious birding. We were there with binoculars and guide books in hand, but, unfortunately, the birds were not. Due to weather conditions, many of the migrating birds had already flown over their usual stop on their annual trek back north.
We did get to see lots of shore birds, even a few the Florida girl (myself) hadn't seen before.
The morning fog softened the marsh landscape. Gorgeous!
This is the spot where we saw two species of Rail, the Sora and Clapper Rails.
