So, I'm finally ready to leave Judson..I've been accepted to the University of Alabama/Tuscaloosa Rural Medical Scholars Program (RMSP)! In the coming school year, I will be at the University of Alabama getting a General Studies in Human Environmental Sciences Masters degree with a Rural Community Health specialization....

I just finished putting the semester's last assignments and exam dates into my planner. It's turning into a checklist pretty much. Once a few more assignments are turned in and a few tests are taken, I'll be all ready for graduation! It will be amazing to be able to do things this summer like go to the library and check out books to read for fun or go visit family and friends! Before Lent I deactivated my Facebook account, but when Lent ended, I decided to get it back....

19 Days

It'll only be 19 days until I'm finished with the semester. All of my courses have picked up a bit as most professors try to cover all of the information they wanted to fit in before finals week. J Day or Judson homecoming and alumni weekend was this weekend. There have been quite a few Senior traditions going on lately and SGA events....

Alabama Academy of Science

I'm on the way back from the Alabama Academy of Science meeting at Alabama A&M. According to Dr. Wilson, this is the 11th straight year that Judson students have presented at the Alabama Academy of Sciences.

It was a good experience! Public speaking is definitely something I want to work on....

Getting Ready for Junior/Soph Weekend

Jr/Soph weekend is this coming weekend. It crept up on me this year! My brain feels like it's swimming just with school work and obligations, so I've been trying to put off thinking about social events until the last possible moment. There will be a Jr/Soph dance "Where the Wild Things Are" Saturday night at the Birmingham Zoo....

Ashes of Roses

I just got back from Ashes of Roses, a play based on short stories by Mary Ward Brown (Mary T), a Judson graduate and Marion resident. I've read all of Mary T's books - Tongues of Flame, It Wasn't All Dancing, and her memoir, Fanning the Spark. I highly recommend them! The play was a meshing of stories, but still quite true to the tone of the books....

Spring Break Accomplishments

I'm nearing the end of the Judson chapter of my life. I'm finding myself packing my schedule a bit more than I used to. Over Spring Break, I couldn't get myself completely out of school mode. My sister is the same way. Because of our similarity we didn't get to see each other. The plan my family worked out was that my parents would go to visit my sister at the University of Houston so that she could stay with her practice piano (she's getting a major in piano performance) and I would stay in Marion and work on my projects....

So, today is Wednesday...I woke up 9:00ish a little bit before my friend Audra texted to be sure I was awake. Last night was a very late one, so I had warned her that I might be a zombie and sleep through all of my alarms..I made it to Judson around a quarter till 10 to pick up Audra, Kezia, Anna, and Angelika to go over to MMI....

Saturday in Marion: Biochemistry, Birds, Breaks

My first Biochemistry test is this coming Monday. Biochemistry is the first class that I've taken under Dr. Bartley, an adjunct from UAB, so I'm more than a bit nervous about the test. I've been carrying my Biochem book around with me all week, studying a few paragraphs here and there....

Today is Mardi Gras, the last day of freedom before the forty days of Lent! The day was a normal Tuesday - 8am Ballet, Chapel, Voice, Math Study Session. I'm trying to push myself harder in Ballet as I'm making it to the gym less than I used to. Chapel was neat... The speaker was Dr....

I have finally taken control of my life - I purchased an on sale $3 planner at Marion Dollar General!

I have no clue why I hadn't thought to get a planner until now. I'm an obsessive list taker! I find the ability to draw lines through accomplished tasks is quite liberating....

Passed my SaveFirst Tax preparer exam! My Saturday volunteering will start next week. Today I meant to jog, but instead danced the afternoon away, then went to J&R's (a local restaurant) for karaoke with friends from Judson and MMI. Dancing was much more fun than jogging... and singing was practice for my Monday 9am voice lesson with Dr....

This coming semester will be my last at Judson. I thought that it would be fitting to wear a dress that my mother wore to Christmas Tea and Vespers when she was a student at Judson to my last Christmas tea as a student. Surprisingly, the dress fit perfectly and didn't seem too very out of style....

So, you're probably wondering how life at an all-girls school like Judson located in a tiny town like Marion could be anything but boring..Think again. The local politics and goings on are pretty interesting, as are random things at Judson. Take this Monday for instance. I was on my way home from Statistics class to grab a quick lunch, and what should I get stuck behind but a parade for Obama Day....

Today, the Saturday before the first Sunday of fall semester, is possibly one of the coolest days of the Judson calendar. Second years taught new freshman how to use the ivy we snipped to make long, thick ivy chains to be carried tomorrow....
