If you are reading this you have probably spent at least a couple of seconds considering coming to Judson College. I must say, it is a good idea, but it is also an important decision that you need to take seriously. As much as I would love to welcome you to the Judson family , where you decide to go to college has to be the best place for you, it is where you will spend the next four or more years of your life.
Today, I hope to help make this decision a little bit easier by sharing with you some of the important and unique things about being a "Judson Girl."
First, Judson College is a Christian-based school. The college emphasizes the Christian faith and encourages students in their Christian walk. This is done through a weekly chapel service as well as additional worship services organized by the Campus Ministries team. They also organize other activities and mission opportunities.
Second, Judson is an all women's college. This is important to many students, because their education is tailored towards them. Some also feel that it provides an environment with fewer distractions. Don't turn away just yet, for those of you not sure of the all "girls school" idea, Judson is located just a few miles from Marion Military Institute, a predominantly male school.
One thing that had a major influence on my decision to attend Judson was that they had an equestrian program. There are other schools that do have equestrian programs, but Judson's is a little bit different from those of other schools. The school provides all of the horses and all of the equipment, which largely reduces the expense of riding for the student. Also, Judson is part of the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) this is an association that provides students the opportunity to show regardless of their experience or financial position. Judson's Team is a tryout team, but students do not have to be on the team to ride and take classes. Judson's program is open to all students who wish to take a riding class. Classes are offered at all levels, from beginner to advanced
Another advantage about Judson is its size. Judson is a small college with only 250 to 300 students. This allows students more individual attention in their classes. Professors have the time to make sure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Judson's small size also encourages a very close student body. The Judson Sisterhood is very unique and can be found no where else. The students may not all be friends, but they are all sisters. Judson's rich history and strong sense of tradition is passed down from one class to the next, strengthening the bond that is built between Judson girls.
Are you still interested in Judson? Do you still have some questions? Well, Scholarship day this Saturday, February 27 would be a great time for you to learn more about the school and have some of those questions answered by Judson students and faculty.
