Ahhh...another busy week is coming to an end and another busy weekend is about to begin.
This weekend, the Judson College Equestrain Team will be traveling to Rome, Ga. to compete at Berry College. This weekend will conclude our regular season. There will be a Huntseat show Saturday morning and a Western show Saturday afternoon. Saturday afternoon's Western show will be the last regular show for the season and the Western Regionals show will be held on Sunday morning. Huntseat Regionals will be held on March 6 at the University of Georgia, so a regular season Huntseat show will be on Sunday afternoon at Berry this weekend, as well.
Judson's team currently has three members qualified for Western Regionals: Sarah Dunn, Samantha Marcella, and Joy Hays. Joy has qualified in class 16 Reigning, Samantha in class 12B Intermediate Horsemanship and Sarah in class 11 Beginner Horsemanship. Andrea Luckie and Heather Hodge will have the opportunity to qualify for Regionals in the Western show Saturday afternoon are Berry. Andrea will be qualifying in class 13 Novice Horsemanship and Heather in class 12B Intermediate Horsemanship. Joy will also have the opportunity to qualify in class 15 Open Horsemanship.
It has been an interesting first year on the team for me. It has been a lot of work, but I have learned a lot and I believe that I have grown as an equestrian and as a person. Riding for the team has taught me a lot about myself as a rider, as well as, a lot about understanding the horse that I am riding. It has also improved my ability to work with others and to gain confidence in myself.
Being on the team was a lot different then I had thought it would be - even after attending some shows and traveling with the team a couple of times last year, I was not expecting it to be how it was. Different is not always bad though, and I am glad that I was a member of the 2009-2010 Judson College Equestrian Team and can't wait till next year.
