Judson College - Freshman
Blows out 19 candles on February 28th, 2010
I've blogged almost my whole life- off and on.
I ride horses now - excitment.
I strongly believe in God and what the Bible tells us.
Not the average "party" Freshman by any means.
You should keep coming back! :D

     Hello,

    A horse of course!

Today was indeed a difficult day.  In my riding class we began to learn how to trot last week.  The first day was so much fun.  I found that I enjoyed this new experience.  Well, it seems now that I cannot get my horse to trot. Yes, it is probably me.

I couldn’t help getting frustrated and crying. I just couldn’t, especially with not so nice comments from a contractor.

It got better though.  My friends Gussie and Meredith raided my bathroom. They signed my mirror with make up and even put kiss marks on it. Oh, they made me some signs saying they loved me and placed them around my mirror. It was so sweet of them. Then, my roommate gave me a donut that was in a bowl on my bed with a sign. Friends make the world a better place. Especially, your Judson friends. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a much better day for me.  I trust that God is looking out and keeping His hand on me.

This should have been first, but I want to tell you all how sorry I am for not writing much this month. It has been so nerve racking. First, my eye is having problems.  Then, my history paper is due.  Lastly, this riding slump and having to turn in a paper for English really got to me.  I wish I could have my better blogs, but I like doing them on my laptop and it will not allow me to do all the linking and picture gathering I want to.  Please stay with me as I work with this.

I will blog about more things tomorrow.  I am so exhausted mentally, physically and emotionally.

    Till then!

May your wits be about you, yet your feet on the clouds,

    2009

    Hello all!

I promised Mr. Weber, our assistant professor of criminal justice here at JC, that I would blog about Thursday, September 17th, 2009.  All right everyone, here is a history quiz question for you all: What happened on September 17th, 1787?  The members of the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution, that's what!

What I wish to focus on was the most memorable event that evening.  We mainly focused on our bill of rights, so, Mr.Weber decided that he would share his wealth of knowledge to us students by showing a video. You will have to privately ask some Judson College students who were there for the many inside jokes that developed because of this movie if you really wish to know.  (Who doesn't like cheesy red flashing lines of important side notes?) Really though, I enjoyed it so much!  Everyone did, I think, since practically everyone in there stayed overtime just to watch the whole thing.  Subjects like that are not difficult to find a liking for. It may just be me though.  From the time I was about twelve, I have always been curious about my rights when law enforcement are involved. Especially since my dad always enforced how important it is. You know, that is possibly why I declared a criminal justice major...

In the video, we learned how to properly address law enforcement whenever we are pulled over, are in our homes and even in public areas such as bus stops.  Who thought you could learn such intriguing things in just one evening at Judson?  That is definitely one more reason to check it out here. Our professors have a real funny bone.

Mr. Weber is a funny guy and I think that when he decides to retire, he should do voice-overs for commercials and action flicks. He has the kind of voice that just goes over well with reading - maybe even stories to youngsters.

May your wits be about you, yet your feet on the clouds,

    Lindy

P.S.- This week is Pageant week! More on that after Friday, so stay tuned.

    2009

I am still so stressed. My Jud 101 class was not on my schedual and I just began to go about 3 weeks ago when I figured out there was a smaller group class.  It is only once a week for about an hour, but we do so much work in that class. I don't want to discourage you, so let me say this -  it is actually worth while.  Learning who I am and how to study is paying off.  For instance, I know that I can not study in my dorm room; I have to be in a classroom environment. Maybe that is why I didn't study very much in high school. Yet, I didn't have to because I found high school easy.  Here, it is another all together.

Also, I am not making as much progress as I would like to in riding class. Ug! My horse continually wants to get into the center of the ring. So, I will work on fighting to keep him against the rail. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this...

A fellow blogger and I are going to get together this Sunday and work all our history facts into order. I am so ready for that. History is my subject, and one that I still enjoy, but I hate not knowing where I am in the book.

Oh, and I have a paper due Wednesday for English.  Don't procrastinate, kids. It is evil. I know I can do this, I know I can do this...

One more thing, I didn't do so hot on my algebra test last week. Yuck. I needed to study more and I didn't.  I totally just blanked out. Good thing Dr. Price kindly drops our lowest exam.  I am determined that that one will be the lowest.

Pray for me guys! I sure will be needing it.

  • My Reader,

I hope your day has been going well thus far.  Sadly, mine has not.  I took an algebra test today and I completely blanked out on it. It was percents and basic algebraic expressions.  I know I did horrible on it, especially since I was so focused on formulas last night as I studied.  I know that it is mostly because I studied at the last minute. I will never, never do that again when it involves math.

On a brighter note, I am going to tell you about the small groups that are here on campus.  First of all, anyone who has an idea for a small group and wants to do it can. Just tell the ministry leaders what your idea is.  Well, I signed up for quilting, cultural food and Crazy Love.  The cultural food has not been started yet, but quilting and Crazy Love have.

I have always been interested in what quilting was all about and took a leap to start learning.  I love it right now even though I haven’t gotten started on my quilt quite yet.  I need to draw out my design and figure out how big I want it to be.  Doing this has such appeal because, think about it, you can make the quilt, which is relaxing, and then give it away to someone you love or care about.  They make amazing gifts, or to me they do.  Plus, Mrs. Joann Williams is teaching us and she is fun to be around.

I love Crazy Love!  It is a devotional type book written by Francis Chan.  It has it’s own website in order to provide you with the videos that accompany it and the content is hard-core.  I am in a lovely group of ladies who have made it a real joy; I love the accountability that goes along with it.

That is all my updating for right now. I have riding class in about 15 minutes and I have to put my boots on. Have a blessed day!

May your wits be about you, yet your feet on the clouds,

    Lindy
