Hey ya'll! I'm Sam! I am a third year here at the wonderful Judson College! Rainbow City, Alabama is where I call home. Softball may be my life, but it's not the only thing here that I love!  I'm majoring in Biology, and one day I WILL be a physical therapist! My family (& my dog) & friends mean the world to me. So, keep coming back to see what goes on in my upbeat life!

Find Me On:

  • Dec 3
    2010

We all feel it At some points it is stronger than others and when it hits you, you just cannot stop it.

You all know what I’m talking about! That wonderful emotion that every college student gets around the end of the semester….. STRESS!

Finals are a week away and the stress of being a successful college student is kicking in. With papers, projects, and labs to finish up, we all just are counting down the days up to the very hours we have left until Christmas Break.  We each travel our separate ways, but we will all remember each other on Christmas, because Judson and our sisters hold special places within each of our hearts.

We all get by with a little help from our friends (and the occasional Judson College Tradition).

The load of work gets no lighter, but the smiles and happiness we find sometimes makes us temporarily forget about everything else. We make time for ice cream runs during finals week, and the things that make us happy.

Christmas is in full swing here at Judson College.  With Christmas Tea and Vespers coming up this Saturday, I am sure everyone will have a wonderful weekend. When Monday comes around we will all turn into hermits. Not leaving our rooms except for food, but we can do this! We are Judson women and we are unstoppable! So, no matter how hard the test or how long the paper, we will succeed!

Can you believe that the fall semester is already over?

I know I sure can’t. Soon we will have new classes and new challenges.  We say goodbye to some graduating friends and move on with our lives. We will randomly remember past times but they will never be forgotten.  They will return to Judson in passing, but their time here is done. I realize that, shortly, mine will be, too. I can’t imagine life without Judson, almost like I can’t remember life before Judson.

Christmas break will be long and delightful, but I will miss Judson and my newfound best friends. I hope everyone has a wonderful break and can remember the true meaning of the season.

    2010

The leaves have changed, the weather is cold, and football is in full swing….   Oh, the things I love about this time of year, but Thanksgiving the most!

The long awaited day is finally here! We all get to go home for a week, to spend time with our families, and doing all those wonderful holiday traditions. I know everyone has been longing for this break, a break from tests, from homework, from papers, and from those 8 am classes.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It’s that time I get to reflect on all that I am thankful for. I’m thankful for my family and friends, but I’m also thankful for the events in my life that have shaped me into the person I am today. Happiness is a journey, and I’m to that point in my life where I’ve realized that I am happy. My time at Judson College is growing shorter, with only 3 semesters remaining; I realize that it is time to become that person who I’m meant to be.  Without the people in my life today there is no telling who I would have become, and for that I am grateful.

Everyone goes through hard times, but that’s one good thing about Judson College, you never have to go through anything alone. You have sisters who care and for that I am thankful. I’m thankful that God’s plan for me started at Judson College. So, even though we complain about the work, tests, and whatever else we all still appreciate Judson and the way she has transformed us.

When we return from break, we’ll have a few short weeks to finish up the semester. It seems like we just recently started. “How time flies” is an understatement. Time doesn’t fly, it disappears rapidly. The coming December will bring about many new changes for us all. We lose some friends, whose time at Judson College has ended. Even though we congratulate them on their achievements, we wish deep down that they could stay. The fall 2010 semester will soon be coming to a close, and for that I know I am thankful. Bring on Spring Semester 2011! =)

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe break, and we'll see you all back at school in a week! I’m thankful for you, my Judson Sisters!

    2010

So everyone else has one, so I think it’s finally my turn. Here are my Top Ten Things I Love about Judson College ….

    10.  The dining hall

I don’t love the dining for the food, but for the social aspect of it. It’s the place we all get together daily and eat. It’s kind of like having a lunch/dinner date with your best friends EVERYDAY! We hang out, talk, and everyone is in there. Oh, and we get grub too!

    9.  Living on a small campus

I love living on a small campus because if you need someone or something you are no more than a 3 minute walk away. Everyone pretty much lives on campus, so once again if you have time for fun your really close to all your friends.

    8.  Welcome Week Events

The very first week of back to school is my favorite, even though it is so busy. Rose Sunday and all the mixers with Marion Military Institute makes the idea of school work actually beginning seem not so bad.

    7. Traditions

Traditions are what make Judson College stand out from the rest. You only understand them if you are a Judson Girl. You can try to explain the “not so secret” traditions to your friends back home, but most of the time they look at you confused. They just won’t understand.

    6.  Big and Little

I have no biological siblings of my own, but thanks to Judson College I have two! My Judson big sister and little sister are more like actual family to me. This tradition makes lifetime bonds of friendship and love.

    5. Small Classes

I couldn’t imagine going to a school and sitting in a class of over 100. My classes have never been bigger than about 20 people. I can speak freely, and am known by a name and not just a number.

    4. Judson Athletics

The whole school comes out to support at games, with homemade signs and cheers! It’s great to be a Lady Eagle!

    3. Small town USA

The small town aspect of Judson College adds to its charm. When the lady at the Mexican restaurant knows off the top of her head what you want to order, it kind of makes you feel at home.

    2.  Saying I’m a Judson Girl

Only a few get to call themselves Judson Girls! It’s a title that we hold with honor and pride.

    1. Getting a great education and making memories at the same time!

How could it get any more self explanatory than that?!

    2010

The Judson College Athletics department has been in full swing so far this year. With Soccer and Volleyball seasons recently ending, Basketball has been practicing for long hours in preparation for their season opener last night.  Softball is also finished with their fall season, and will begin practicing again in January!

Basketball traveled to Huntsville, Alabama last night to play against the Oakwood University Lady A’s. Oakwood University is also centered on Christian higher learning. The Lady Eagle’s represented Judson College with class and pride, even though the game had a dramatic finish.  The Lady Eagle’s lost in the last few seconds of the game… (Not to be biased, but from what I heard it was a bad call!) I know that I sure am proud of Coach Jones and our Lady Eagles. There is nowhere to go but up, and I predict a great season is in store for them!

The soccer team has also had a few heartbreaking moments this last week. With the team all packed up and ready to make the long haul to Vermont for Nationals, they received word that they were no longer eligible due to a technicality. I know they were very upset about this, but I just want each soccer player to know that in Judson College’s eyes they are #1 in all our hearts! We love our Soccer team!

Softball finished its last tournament of the fall season in Montgomery a few weekends ago. Although we did not finish on top, we played together like a team and enjoyed being there. The upcoming season will be bright for the Lady Eagles. We work hard and even though our beloved Coach Jones has deserted us for Basketball, we are still continuing to condition and train on our own.

Together we have a common goal. No matter what sport we represent here at Judson College. We play hard, we pray hard, and we are the property of God. Go, Lady Eagles!
