Hey ya'll! I'm Sam! I am a third year here at the wonderful Judson College! Rainbow City, Alabama is where I call home. Softball may be my life, but it's not the only thing here that I love!  I'm majoring in Biology, and one day I WILL be a physical therapist! My family (& my dog) & friends mean the world to me. So, keep coming back to see what goes on in my upbeat life!

Senior Night is a tradition and a rite of passage looked forward to by every athlete. It's their day, they are recognized as senior leaders, but it usually ends with tears. Mixed emotions fill their heads. They are glad they have made it, but at the same time hate to see it come to an end. This senior night was no different. The happiness and tears were all present. The Lady Eagles recognized their seniors with style this year. The preparation and hard work put in by the underclassmen goes to show the love for these three special ladies, each who offered something different to the team.  When put together the work ethic and support was unbelievable.  I'll admit there were some rough points, but when things finally came together this team was destined for greatness. Senior night this year was victorious with a pair of wins over Stillman College out of Tuscaloosa, Al. A great memory made for Elyse McIntyre, Brooklyn Williams, and Whitney Bryars.

Game One- Senior Elyse McIntyre had two hits the first game, a double then a homerun! Way to Go MAC! With bases loaded, Nesha McGriff hit a bases clearing triple to make the score 9-3. She then made it home on a later hit, to set the final score at 10-3

Game Two- Game two also showed the outstanding hitting ability of Judson College. Nesha McGriff hits a two run homer!!! Followed later on, by a GRAND SLAM by Elyse McIntyre! The game ended in 5 innings by run rule with a score of 10-2.

Between the two games, the seniors were presented with their senior gifts! Each senior was escorted onto the field by her parents, who you could tell were all so very proud of their graduating daughters. Today the Eagles traveled to play Covenant College, in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Hopefully bringing home more W's, but we will be proud of our ladies either way!

Judson College Softball won a pair against the Lady Hornets of Concordia College on April 10th. The Lady Eagles swept the Hornets in both games. The first game win was awarded to senior pitcher Elyse McIntyre. "Mac" knocked out the opponents with five strikeouts. The game ended in five innings with a blowout score of 13-0. Game two also resulted in a win for a Freshman/Sophomore pitching duo. Freshman Brittany Duke started off the game with her first Lady Eagle's pitching appearance of the season! She did a great job. Judson College was trailing Concordia going into the 4th inning. Nesha McGriff scored Brooklyn Williams from third base on an outstanding triple. This hit brought the Eagles score to 5-6, down by one at the end of the inning. Coach Jones then decided to bring in Nesha as the relief pitcher. The Lady Hornets were unable to score anyone else during the game.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Lady Eagles started dominating and capitalizing on some major hits. The lady Eagles scored 10 Runs! Some of those hits go to the credit of Melia Graff, who scored Sarah Kendrick (who was pinch running for Tori Spencer). Also, Deborah Billingham scored Melia and Katie Motteler with a triple. This game finished with a score of 15-6 in the 5th inning, having run-ruled the Concordia Hornets! Way to Go, EAGLES!!!

The Lady Eagles had a very successful outcome from last week. The winning streak of six wins in a row was because of the victories over Emmanuel College, Meridian Community College, and Concordia. The Lady Eagles traveled to Demopolis, Ala. on Tuesday, April 13, to play the University of West Alabama. Even though the Lady Eagles came home defeated, they still have a lot to be proud of.

This coming Thursday, April 15th, Judson College will host Stillman College at home. This night will be an unforgettable one for it is the one night of the year where we recognize those senior leaders who have made a remarkable difference on our team. It is THEIR night to shine. This special event is one looked forward to by many seniors, but also dreaded at the same time. It marks the end. I hope to see every one of my fellow Judson College ladies out there on Thursday afternoon to pay tribute to our graduating friends.

    GO EAGLES!!!

Judson softball came home from Georgia winners earlier this week!

The Lady Eagles split with both Emmanuel College and Agnes Scott College. Tuesday afternoon, after a 4 hour drive to Atlanta (and the vans getting a little lost) we arrived in Decatur, Ga. We lost the first game, but the second game against Agnes Scott we showed the Scotties what Judson softball is all about! After the games, we drove an hour north to Commerce, Ga. It was a late night getting to the hotel, but road trips like these are always the most fun! Tori, Whitney, and I shared a room and had a blast talking and sharing the weekly gossip!

The next morning, thankfully, was a not so early one. We left the hotel about 11 a.m. and headed to Franklin Springs, Ga. FYI: Emmanuel College is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I go to Judson and I have no idea why I'm complaining about this! Once again, they beat us in the first game pretty badly actually. The second game, however, was a different story! We held them to a 4-1 victory!

The much looked forward to road trip was a successful one in bringing us closer together as a team. With our first home game this Saturday, the much needed bonding will do us some good. We had a really great practice yesterday and I'm expecting another good one today. Everyone is sore and tired from our trip but should be rested up by game time. We play at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 27th against Belhaven. It should be a pretty tough game, so Coach Jones says.

Hopefully we'll have the home field advantage and have a lot of fan support!  So that means everyone needs to come out and cheer us on!!!  Go Eagles!!!

The Lady Eagles had the pleasure of hosting a tournament in the nearby town of Selma on March 4-6. Teams from the surrounding areas came to play some ball, and even teams from the not so surrounding areas. We had the honor of welcoming some of the more northern states in our conference to the great state of Alabama. Teams from Indiana and Illinois showed up to represent their school and state by playing a little softball. Although, Judson didn't win every game, we certainly played some tough teams.

The teams that came down to play are ones that we usually play at nationals every year. The teams included: Saint Mary of the Woods and Robert Morris. A team out of Tennessee also showed up to play, all the way from the college of Hiwassee. Judson College played one game on that Thursday and one game on Friday. The following Saturday offered three games to the Lady Eagles. Judson walked away from the tournament with two wins, both from beating Concordia, a local Selma team.

Once again, we have had many games rained out and cancelled. This season has been very wet for the Eagles. We will travel this coming week to Atlanta to play Agnes Scott and Emmanuel. This overnight trip is one that is usually looked forward to each year. Coach Jones will not let us leave without eating at the Ryan's in Commerce, Ga. He loves his buffets!

Nationals Report: So far so good for the Lady Eagles goal of going all the way! The points are being counted and with the schedule ahead it looks like we should be able to rack up some more wins. The top eight teams make it to the tournament and we hope to be one of them. Wish us luck!

Whitney & I headed to play some Ball in Selma!

I hope I will have more to report soon! Let's pray for some good Ball Weather!!
