Jo Ann Morina is a part time professor and a part-time administrator at Judson College. Originally from New York, she held various positions in her home state and New Jersey before coming to Judson. Mrs. Morina practiced as a sole practitioner in New Jersey through December of 1996 and then formed a partnership. Through the partnership, she provided accounting and tax services to small businesses and prepared personal tax returns. Growing up, Mrs. Morina's family owned an Italian restaurant in New York and she spent most of her time there, helping her father keep the accounting records. It was here that she learned how to dance to the music of the bands that performed once a month as a form of entertainment for the diners. She learned old 40's and 50's dances, and claims she was a "disco queen" in the 70's. Her family restaurant often had such special events as evening gown nights, sock hops, and look-a-like and hula hoop contests, which made for an interesting childhood. Mrs. Morina relocated to the South in the late '90's for health reasons. She met her husband, Jeffrey Rudes, in Florida, while he was also dancing the night away. She "saw him dancing at a holiday party and just knew she had to dance with him." She was surprised to eventually find out, Jeffrey was an old friend of her family, though they had never met until then. Now, they dance together all the time; even down the hallways of their old Victorian-style home in Greensboro. Mrs. Morina has two step-sons, Daniel and Michael and discovered the City of Marion while visiting Marion Military Institute with Daniel, who is now a Second Lieutenant in the Army. She began work at Judson College not long after. Mrs. Morina loves the family atmosphere of Judson and is also a faculty advisor for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the business club. With SIFE, she helped open the now popular "Ivy Vine" gift and accessory shop on campus Besides dancing, Mrs. Morina loves to travel. Some of the most memorable places she has traveled to include Europe, Switzerland, Austria, the Caribbean and Alaska. She also has a passion for helping stray animals and is active in Greensboro trying to get funding for a new animal shelter. Mrs. Morina adopted a dog - named Dushi-Papiapento, "Sweetheart," eight years ago that she found on a beach in Aruba - has a puppy named Gidget, and two cats. In the future, Mrs. Morina hopes to buy a houseboat with her husband (who once owned a houseboat in New York anchored next to one owned by Billy Joel!) and they plan to travel all over the country together.
