FACULTY PROFILE
BRETT STIEFEL
"I have taught larger classes at other universities, but here at Judson, if I do the same class twice it's surprisingly hard to get bored with it. There's just always something different going on; there's a variety in the classroom." - Brett Stiefel
EDUCATION · M.S. in Mathematics (1989) - University of Alabama at Birmingham · B.S. in Math and Computer Science (1986) - University of Montevallo · Additional coursework for PhD. in Math - University of Alabama at Birmingham
TEACHING CONCENTRATION: Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus III & IV, Physics, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations
Originally from Rainsville, Ala., Mr. Brett Stiefel stumbled into his profession purely by accident. Mr. Stiefel was attending college to earn his law degree when a professor of his suggested he enroll in a few extra math and English classes. From this, Mr. Stiefel developed a love for math applications and an interest in how math is applied to science and research. The rest was history. Mr. Stiefel believes his students would describe him as a "fairly transparent person," really energetic in class but very easy going. At Judson, he enjoys the small size of the college campus and student body, which gives him the opportunity to talk with and get to know a wide range of students. Mr. Stiefel currently makes his home in Alabaster with his wife, Sherry, and daughters Lily, 12, and Ashley, 17. In his free time, Mr. Stiefel enjoys playing online strategy games.
