Phone: (334) 683-5133
At Judson College since 2008
"I had heard of Judson but had never seen the campus until just before I was hired. I really like the cozy atmosphere of the campus. The students are very active and the classes are such a small size. There are so many wonderful ways to get involved here. " - Lesley Sheek

Dr. Lesley Sheek joined the faculty at Judson College in the fall of 2008, where she has become an integral member of the teacher education program. Dr. Sheek enjoys teaching a variety of education courses, ranging from methods of teaching to foundations of education. She also enjoys working in area schools with cooperating teachers and Judson teacher candidates during their clinical practice, in their final semester before graduation. Dr. Sheek serves as advisor to the Beta Rho chapter of Kappa Delta Epsilon, the education department's honorary fraternity. She also serves as the South Regional Director of the National Kappa Delta Epsilon. Before coming to Judson, Dr. Sheek taught elementary school students for 12 years in Baldwin County and Hoover City School Systems. She loves working with young students and strives to share this passion for teaching with Judson's teacher candidates. She incorporates read aloud, creates community, and allows time for active, cooperative work and discussion, as she models appropriate curriculum in her college courses. In addition to her career in public education, many hours of study prepared Dr. Sheek for her work with teacher candidates at Judson College. Dr. Sheek graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree with dual certification in early childhood and elementary education. She continued her studies at the University of South Alabama, earning a Master's degree in Elementary Education. While teaching in Hoover, she studied at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned her Education Specialist degree followed by her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Early Childhood Education. Continuous learning, life-long learning, is at the heart of effective teaching, Dr. Sheek believes. Teaching is a rewarding career with opportunities for continual growth.
