  Faculty Position

 

Assistant/Associate Professor of Criminal Justice

Judson College is seeking applications for an open position in Criminal Justice at the Assistant/Associate professor level for the 2013-2014 year. 

The College invites applications from individuals with a commitment to teaching excellence and professional development.  This position is tenure track.  Rank and compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

 

Founded in 1838, Judson is America’s fifth oldest women’s college and a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.  The College is dedicated to maturing its students into well adjusted and productive citizens through transmission of knowledge, refinement of intellect, nurturing of faith, and development of character.  Faculty considering the application process should have a serious, personal Christian commitment that is reflected in their scholarship, teaching, and mentoring of undergraduate students.

Requirements  Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology with a specialization in criminal justice are preferred.  Other related fields will be considered. The J.D. degree alone is not sufficient for this position.  The J.D. may be considered when an individual has experience in the courts and criminal system. 

 

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be willing to teach the equivalent of 12-16 hours per semester during the fall and spring and 6-8 hours during short term (May and June); maintain active scholarly work in the field; advise undergraduate students; and serve the College as well as the professional and local communities.  This will also include a limited load of distance education work.  Teaching responsibilities will include all areas of criminal justice and either sociology or political science. Additional responsibilities include student research and community service.
