Judson College maintains a close working relationship with local law enforcement authorities and other emergency service agencies on matters related to safety of the campus.
Despite the small size and welcoming atmosphere of the Judson College campus, students should not, however, allow themselves to be under the impression that the campus is a safe haven from "the real world," as outlined in the Judson Student Handbook.
Students should exercise appropriate care for their own safety by:
TIMELY WARNING ALERT
If a situation arises, either on or off-campus, that the college administration deems an ongoing or continuing threat of immediate violence, a campus "timely warning" will be issued. This warning may come to students, faculty and staff through:
If you have information that might warrant a timely warning, you should report the circumstances to Campus Security or the Office of Student Life.
Each floor of each building on the Judson College campus contains fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are also located in each dorm room.
WHO SHOULD YOU CALL FOR...
In the event of an emergency on campus, students should call:
In the event of an emergency off-campus, students should report the accident to the College's toll free emergency number at 1.800.3JUDSON.
Incidents occurring on campus should be reported to the Judson Security Office at 334.683.5176 immediately. Incidents should also be reported to the Office of Student Life at 1.800.3JUDSON.
To call local law enforcement directly, you may dial 911 from campus telephones to reach the Marion Police Department or dial 911 from a cell phone to reach the Perry County Sheriff. Incidents occurring off campus involving students, faculty or staff should immediately be reported on Judson's toll-free emergency number at 1.800.3JUDSON.
In each residence hall, there is one Resident Director (RD) and three Resident Assistants (RA). RDs and RAs are trained for emergency situations and threats of inclement weather. They are all Adult CPR / AED American Red Cross certified.
In times of inclement weather, the RAs will monitor the weather closely, check each dorm room and notify students, sending them to the basement of their residence hall to remain until the threat is over. If a student is in an academic building during inclement weather, security and staff will help direct her to that building's basement.
