EQUINE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

An interdisciplinary major in Equine Business Management consists of 68 credit hours and could open a lot of doors for the student with an interest in working with horses. This degree is a combination of courses from the Business major and Equine Science major. Though an interdisciplinary major in Equine Business Management is relatively new to Judson College, the institution has always offered a minor in the subject. Because of the extensive amount of credit hours involved in this major, students who choose this degree will not have to choose a minor.

Opportunities   As an Equine Business Management interdisciplinary major or Equine Science minor, you will find numerous opportunities available for you to learn outside of the classroom. Some such opportunities might include:

  • Community service work with horses
  • Opportunities in print media and publicity or public relations
  • Retail opportunities through local Hoggle's Tack
  • Riding clinics with qualified outside instructors
  • Internships, and more

Equestrian Team   Judson is one of only two schools in the state of Alabama to offer an Equestrian program and equestrian team.  As a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), Judson competes at the Zone 5, Region 2 level. Judson's equestrian team offers both Hunter and Western styles of riding and holds tryouts at the beginning of each new school year.  Visit the Equestrian Homepage for more information!

As a member of the equestrian team or while taking riding classes as a student, you will find the opportunity as well to learn techniques such as caring for horses, grooming them, caring for tack and taking part in scholarship day presentations.
