L.A.M.P.s (Leading And Mentoring Peers)
L.A.M.P.s are upperclasswomen chosen to be leaders for the incoming freshman class. Freshmen are normally far from home, attempting to transition into life without their parents, learning how to cope with college classes and trying to make friends. Judson College understands the fear, stress and anxiety a new student may feel her first few months on campus, so L.A.M.P.s are chosen at the end of each school year. Before move in day of the new school year, each L.A.M.P. receives a list of new freshmen names; these new freshmen will be her L.A.M.P. Group, or "Light Bulbs"! From the first day of the new school year, a L.A.M.P. has many responsibilities with her L.A.M.P. group. These might include but are not limited to:
L.A.M.P.s often form close friendships with members of their L.A.M.P. Group, and these relationships often last far beyond the time when students no longer need the L.A.M.P.'s guidance. Be A L.A.M.P. Are you interested in being a L.A.M.P.? The L.A.M.P. sponsor takes applications each academic year at the beginning of the Spring semester. Pick up an application in the Office of Student Life (Blount Student Center), and see if you have what it takes to lead!
