The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) provides students with a unique college experience. Students can take part in riding activities, enjoy fellowship with other team members, and gain horsemanship experiences at challenging levels.
COMPETITION - How it Works Judson joined the IHSA in late 1997 and has since qualified for Regional and National Competitions, hosted Western Shows and received IHSA Scholarships. Team members participate in various levels, including Beginner Walk / Trot and open divisions in both Hunter and Western styles of riding.
THE REGIONS - Our Competition Judson College Equestrians compete in IHSA Zone 5, Region 2. A few of our competitors include:
The IHSA national average region includes about 11 colleges, 225 total riders, and competes in approximately 8.6 horse shows per year. Currently, only about two-thirds of the regions offer competition in western horsemanship. There are now 29 Regions and 9 Zones encompassing 48 states with 7,000 riders and 300 teams.
