PSYCHOLOGY What will a degree in Psychology at Judson College give you?
From the Social Science Division, psychology majors can select minor fields of study in Business, Criminal Justice, History or Sociology. Psychology majors can also select minors from any of Judson College’s other academic divisions, such as Art, English, or Music--just to name a few!
Psychology has been one of the most popular majors at Judson College. At Judson, you will profit from instruction under outstanding faculty who hold terminal degrees in their field (not graduate students), who speak from years of professional experience. Furthermore, students appreciate the low faculty to student ratio (11:1) and the extensive personal attention given. One of our goals in the Department of Psychology is to give our graduates quality academic instruction coupled with direct field experience to successfully begin a career at the bachelor's level or to advance to graduate study in a variety of psychology-related fields.
As a Judson psychology student, you will have the opportunity to conduct relevant research projects as part of the core curriculum. Recently, some of our psychology majors conducted research on the life-span rate in Alabama's Black Belt region and came up with some very interesting results! For instance, did you know that there is one city in the Black Belt area where the average life span for women is considerably longer than in others? In another interesting research project, Judson psychology students systematically measured how distracted students become when walking and talking while using their cell phones! Hands-on learning and guided field experience are just a few of the many innovative tools for learning you will find waiting for you at Judson--tools that will give you a head start in life. In addition to excellent academic opportunities, the Psychology Department maintains a student departmental club called Psych-Key. Psych-Key (Psychology Club) is a student-initiated and administered organization. The club invites professionals from a wide range of mental health and psychology related fields to come to the Judson campus and to present information on the advancements in their professions. In addition, students are invited and encouraged to participate in field trips and professional conferences. These networking opportunities allow our psychology majors to make professional contacts that enhance the quality of their education and give them a head start in the career search when they graduate. If you are seeking an excellent education that will help prepare you for a rewarding career, come let the Department of Psychology at Judson College give you the head start that you're looking for.For further information, contact:
