SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS

Federal Pell Grant: Financial need required. Eligibility determined by the U.S. Department of Education through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (produces the Student Aid Report or SAR).

Acteen Scholarship: Award based upon completed steps as verified by pastor or WMU director.

Minister's Dependent Grant: For dependent daughters of full-time or bi-vocational ministers of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Church-Related Vocation Scholarship: Students who are members of Alabama State Convention churches and have made a formal commitment to a church-related vocation may apply.

Junior Miss Scholarship: State and local pageant winners are eligible.

Church Secretary's Dependent Grant: For dependent daughters of full-time church secretaries in churches affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

Girls' State Scholarship: Award made to students who may have attended Girls' State.

LOAN PROGRAMS

Federal Perkins Loan: Financial need required. Must be Pell Grant recipient. Interest rate is 5% with maximum repayment period of 10 years. Judson is the lender. Limited number available.

Federal Stafford Loan: Variable interest rate tied to 91-day T-bill plus 1.7% for in-school, grace, and deferment; T-bill + 2.3% interest during repayment. Annual maximum amount is $2,625 freshmen level; $3,500 sophomore level; $5,500 junior and senior levels. Maximum repayment period is 10 years. Financial need required as shown through processed federal Pell forms. Commercial lender.

Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan: Same as above, except for middle income students who do not qualify for a subsidized Federal Stafford Loan. Interest is not deferred while in school; may sign agreement with lender to have interest capitalized.

Federal Parent's Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS): May borrow cost of education minus other financial aid. Variable interest rate tied to 91-day T-bill plus 3.10% capped at 9%. Checks are co-payable to parent and college. Repayment begins no later than 60 days after disbursement of check.
