11/6/2007 - Eight employees honored for service

By Dr. Michael J. Brooks

Judson College honored eight employees at the annual Employee Recognition Convocation on Nov. 6. College president Dr. David Potts noted that the honorees had collectively given 115 years of service to the institution.

"These people come to work everyday for you," Potts said to the assembled students, faculty and staff. "Their faithfulness to their jobs helps make this a special place for Christian higher education especially for women."

Three employees were honored for five years of service: James Hughey, assistant director of facilities; Michael Russell of the security staff and Dr. Suzanne Stringer, professor of elementary education.

Angie Teague, director of the Distance Learning Program, was honored for ten years of service.

Though unable to attend, Dr. Winnie Cobbs, professor of modern foreign languages, was honored for 15 years of service.

Registrar Eleanor Drake and Lee Andrew Mims of the facilities staff were honored for 20 years of service.

Professor of biology Dr. Thomas Wilson was honored for 35 years of service.

Each employee received a gift from the college and then retired for lunch with the president.
