4/8/2008 - Education professor honored at National Conference Judson College professor of education Dr. Kathy Chandler made a presentation at the National Science Teachers Association national conference in Boston in March. The presentation included lesson plans written by Judson students Susan Guider, Laura Liddell, Megan Daniel and Erica Nance which were used in area schools and related to the Children's Book Council award-winning books in 2007. Chandler was elected president of the Society of Elementary Presidential Awardees at the conference. She received the "Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching" in 2003. The award is given by the U.S. president to no more than one teacher per state each year. Chandler was also appointed to serve on the Toyota Tapestry Grant committee by the National Science Teachers Association. Chandler, a Moundville native, joined the Judson faculty in 2007 and serves as head of the education department.
