11/8/2008 - Judson to host Intercollegiate Horse Shows By Jennifer Hoggle The Judson College equestrian team will once again host a set of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association western shows on Nov. 8 in the newly-constructed campus equestrian center. The IHSA-sanctioned event will be the only shows this year in the state of Alabama. Invited teams include Berry College, Clemson University, Emory University, Erskine College, Furman University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, Lander University, North Georgia College and State University, The University of Georgia and The University of South Carolina. The first show will begin at 9 a.m. and will be judged by Maurice Powell of Montgomery. The second show will begin at 11 a.m. and will be judged by Mike Powell of Russellville, and the final show will be at 1 p.m. and will be judged by Debby Stephens of Indian Springs. Judson's new arena, completed last year, encompasses 35,000 square feet and includes a 120 by 200 foot clear span riding arena. Phase two of the construction will include a new 12,000 square foot barn with 30 stalls The public is cordially invited to the shows.
