11/3/2008 - Alabama Symphony Orchestra to perform

By Michael J. Brooks

The Alabama Symphony Orchestra's principal second violinist, Yuriko Yasuda, will be featured in its performance at Judson College on Nov. 13.

Born and raised in Sapporo, Japan, Yasuda's orchestral experience includes performances with the Tanglewood Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra, the Festival Choir and Orchestra of Bach International Academy in Stuttgart, Germany and the Pacific Music Festival in her native country. She also served as concertmaster of the Chicago Civic Orchestra.

Yasuda received a bachelor of music in violin performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and a master of music in violin performance from Northern Illinois University.

"The compositions of Beethoven, Schumann, Sibelius and Saint-Saens as performed by the Alabama Symphony will soon fill Judson's Alumnae Auditorium which is one of the finest music buildings in the South," said Dr. Thomas Wilson, chair of the college Concert-Lecture Committee.

"Our committee is proud to continue the long history of Judson College in bringing cultural heritage to the Marion community."

The performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.
