11/12/2008 - Equestrian team scores early victories

The Judson College equestrian western team recently participated in the Gold Rush Classic of North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, the Intercollegiate Fall Classic of Berry College in Rome and at the University of Georgia in Athens.
At the NGC show on Oct. 11 Joy Coppock of Lowndesboro placed sixth in class 16 "Open Reining" and fifth in class 15 "Open Western Horsemanship."
Jessica Elmore of Opp placed sixth in 12b "Intermediate II Western Horsemanship.
Heather Hodge of Thomasville won a blue ribbon in class 12A "Intermediate I Western Horsemanship."
Kristin Forrester of Birmingham won fifth place in class 11 "Beginner Western Horsemanship. Candyce Gibbs of Cullman placed fourth and Samantha Marcella of Cullman placed sixth.
In the second show the same day at NGC, Coppock won sixth place in class 16 and a fourth place in class 15.
In class 12B, Alyssa Hicks of Corpus Christi, Texas, placed fifth and Hodge placed second.
Marcella won the second place ribbon in class 11. Gibbs won third place and Forrester won sixth.
At Berry College on Oct. 12, Coppock placed third place in class 16, and fourth in class 15.
Elmore placed fourth in class 12B and Hodge won sixth place.
Gibbs took second place in class 11, Marcella third and Forrester sixth.
At the Berry College Hunt Seat show, Judson alumna Jennifer Hayes Wilson of Trussville placed fourth in class 10 "Alumni Over Fences" and fifth in class 9 "Alumni Equitation."
Hicks placed reserve in class 2A "Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter."
The Hunt Seat Team traveled to the University of Georgia on Oct. 26. Wilson placed second in class 10 "Alumni Over Fences" and reserve in Class 9 "Alumni Equitation."
Hicks won the first place ribbon in class 2A "Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter."
The team expressed appreciation to Coach Jennifer Hoggle and team manger Allie Agee for their help in these early victories in the competition season.
