4/4/2009 - "Broadway Rhythm's" group to perform on Alumnae weekend
"The Broadway Rhythms" will perform at Judson College on April 4 as part of the college's "J Day" alumnae weekend. Performers are Mildred Sterling Hong and Brian Blair. Hong, a native of Magnolia, Mississippi, is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She studied opera with Boris Goldovsky for whom she sang Butterfly in "Madame Butterfly," and Mimi in "LaBoheme." She has been soloist with the University of Southern Mississippi Symphony, the Jackson Symphony and the Meridian and Pensacola Symphonies. Hong was a music teacher in the public schools in Mississippi and performed in many musical productions including "Annie," "Oliver," "Hello Dolly!" and "Sweeney Todd." Blair, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is a pianist and performer with a 1,300 song repertoire. He travels the southeast entertaining audiences with pieces as varied as Liberace's "Chopsticks" and imitations of Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." Blair studied classical music for over twenty years and has entertained four governors at the Mississippi Governor's Mansion in Jackson. The performance begins at 2:15 p.m. in Alumnae Auditorium.
