11/15/2009 - Eagles Soccer completes season ranked fourth in nation By Michael J. Brooks
The team finished its season with a 7-6 record and was invited to the USCAA National Tournament in Burlington, Vt. Nov. 6-7. In the first round Judson faced New Hampshire Technical Institute of Concord and tied the game at 2-2. The score remained unchanged during two overtimes, and Judson lost the deciding "shoot out." Coach Bryan Weiss said his team played well and the loss in the final minutes was disappointing. "But I'm very proud of what the team accomplished this year," he said. "It shows how much work these girls put in on and off the field." Several of the Lady Eagles were honored at the tournament banquet.
Lisa Dundore of Fayetteville, NC was recognized as a USCAA All American and named to the All American Tournament Team. Christina Carter of Hurley, Miss. and Jessica Darwin of Huntsville were named to the All American Second Team and Andrea Skarbecki of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. was named a USCAA Academic All American. Weiss noted that this year's team was composed of freshmen and sophomores. "I'm really looking forward to what we accomplish with some juniors on the roster next year," he said. "But we're proud of having four All Americans and six national players of the week this season. It's been a great year." *Article courtesy of the Judson College Public Relations Department.
