4/22/2010 - Old Howard Bike Ride, Donation for stables - photo story
‘Old Howard 100’ Bike Ride Raises Money for Perry County Benevolence Photo cut line: Some 240 cyclists from several states participated in the sixth annual "Old Howard 100" bike ride in Perry County on Saturday. Participants chose routes of 30, 75 or 100 miles. The ride highlights the historical ties between the Alabama Baptist Convention, founded in Greensboro in 1823; Howard College (now Samford University), found in Marion in 1841 and the event host, Judson College, founded in 1838. All monies raised from registration is given to Perry County's "Sowing Seeds of Hope" interfaith alliance.
Joyce (“Bootsie”) White of Marion took a moment to pose with her grandson Edward Merritt and his wife, Bronwyn, before they began the “Old Howard 100” bike ride on Saturday. The Merritts live in Birmingham.
Cargill Animal Nutrition of Montgomery contributes to new stables at JC Photo cut line: Cargill Animal Nutrition of Montgomery made a donation for the new stables at Judson College on April 14.
