9/8/2010 - Soccer Game Replay: Eagles soar by Panthers to claim victory
Judson College Eagles Soccer team played against LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, beating the Panthers 2-1 in overtime. The Eagles started the game off with a goal from Lisa Dundore assisted by Jessica Darwin within the first ten minutes of play. The Eagles remained strong throughout the first period of play, holding the score at 1-0. The Panthers remained scoreless until the last two minutes of the game when Melanie Sommers #8 of LaGrange scored, sending the game into overtime. The Eagles were able to score the game winning goal three minutes into overtime. Freshman Caitlin Smith's shot from the top of the box bounced off the far post back into play, which allowed Judson's centerback Christina Carter the opportunity to deliver the winning shot through the LaGrange defense to win the game. This win brings Judson's record so far this season to 2-2-1. The Eagles will host Tennessee Temple University on Saturday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. *Update courtesy of the Judson College Athletic Department.
