10/12/2010 - Fall Concert, Student-led conductions to take place The Judson College Music Department will present its Fall Concert in the Alumnae Auditorium on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. All three college ensembles will be featured including the Judson Singers, FAITH and the hand-bell group, the Judson Ringers. The concert will include a variety of works from Baroque to Contemporary styles, with a rousing gospel- style finale. In addition to several a cappella works, FAITH will perform an arrangement of "Be Thou My Vision" arranged for ensemble and hand-bells. The Judson Singers will be joined by a complement of tenors and basses, transforming the group into an SATB choir. The full choir will perform the first two movements from the Vivaldi Gloria: "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" and "Et in Terra Pax." FAITH will sing the third movement, "Laudamus Te." Another notable difference is that two concert selections will be lead by student conductor and Judson senior Angelika Jenkins. Jenkins will conduct two selections: Mozart's "Praise the Lord Our God Forever" and the first Vivaldi movement. "Conducting has given me a whole new outlook on this music and I am more connected with it than ever before," Jenkins said. "These works have become a major part of my life and shall live in my heart forever." The concert will be directed by Dr. Judy L. Ransom. The event is free and open to the public.
