10/7/2010 - Scholarships for Equine Students offered by the AHC
By Jennifer J. Hoggle The Alabama Horse Council will award two $1,000 college scholarships for 2011 to outstanding young people in Alabama pursuing a career in the equine industry. One of the scholarships is given in partnership with the Alabama Cattlemen's Association with money generated from the sale of the "Cowboy" car tag. The second scholarship is funded with proceeds from AHC's Horse Fair. Judson College recently expanded an Equine Science minor to an Equine Studies major and completed construction of a brand new equine facility in early August 2010. The center's first equine studies students stepped through its doors in Fall 2010. The college also offered a unique concentration in Equine-Facilitated Mental Health along with opportunities to ride on a varsity IHSA Equestrian Team. Applications for equine scholarships are due by December 5. For more information and an application, visit alabamahorsecouncil.org and follow the scholarships link. * Article courtesy of the Judson College Public Relations Department.
