10/23/2010 - Equestrians earn awards at Berry College show By Allison Agee Griffin The Judson Equestrian Team competed at Berry College in Rome, Ga. Oct. 23-24. The first show of the day was the Hunt Seat Show. Faith Williams from Huntsville competed in Class 4 Novice over Fences and Class 3 Novice Equitation. Heather Hodge from Grove Hill competed in 2B Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and earned fourth place in a class of 11 riders. Rebecca O'Neal from Chatom rode in class 1 Walk/Trot and earned sixth place in a class of 11 riders. In the Hunt Seat Show on the second day, Hodge competed in 2B Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and won fifth place. Megan Cook from Bothell, Wash. received a sixth place ribbon. Beverly Cox from Athens earned a sixth place ribbon in Class 2A Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter. And in the last class of the day, Class 1 Walk/Trot, Laura Hyer from Marion Junction earned fifth place and Rebecca O'Neal earned third place in a class of 12 riders. This season Judson has five new riders out of six total riders on the Hunt Seat Team. The last show on Saturday was the Western Show. Hodge began the day competing in Class 16 Reining Horsemanship. She also competed in Class 15 Open Western Horsemanship and earned fourth place. Jordyn Blackwell from Grand Bay won second place in Class 14 Advanced Western Horsemanship which qualified her for Regionals in that class. Andrea Luckie of Alexander City and Samantha Marcella of Cullman competed in Class 13 Novice Western Horsemanship. Corey Finlay of Oxford placed reserve in Class 12B. Brandy Colburn of Brent competed in Class 11 with Lindy Cowart from Braxton, Miss. who won fourth place and Jana Davenport from Jemison who placed sixth in the class. On Sunday in the Western Show, Hodge competed in Reining Horsemanship. She also competed in Open Western Horsemanship and won fifth place with Jordyn Blackwell who earned third place. Luckie placed third in a class of 13 riders in Novice Western Horsemanship. In the last class in the Western Division, Colburn placed third, and Cowart placed Reserve. There are two new riders out of the nine total riders on Judson's Western Team. For both teams, it was a great two days at Berry College.
