1/24/2011 - JC welcomes new VP of Advancement

Judson College president Dr. David Potts has announced the appointment of Dr. Terry Smith Morgan to the position of Vice-President for Advancement, commencing Jan. 18.

In this position Morgan will direct the areas of financial development, alumnae relations and public relations for the college.

"We look forward to Dr. Morgan's leadership in the advancement office," Potts said. 

"She possesses very strong credentials and experience. Her application of these significant abilities in behalf of Judson will further the cause of Christian higher education especially for women to which she is deeply committed."

Morgan earned a bachelor's degree from the Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Ariz. and a master's degree in education and a doctoral degree in education administration and foundations of education from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, Texas.

She completed additional doctoral studies at the University of North Texas and the Regents College of Oxford University in England.

Morgan has had a varied career in both education and business. She served as assistant registrar at Grand Canyon University, coordinator of special events and foundation development at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, director of foundation development at Baylor University and as academic grants officer at Samford University in Birmingham.

Additionally she worked as director of administration for the Polaris Computer Company in Hong Kong, director of marketing for the Buckner Retirement Community in Dallas and director of development of the Children's Medical Center Foundation, also in Dallas.

Most recently Morgan worked as a grant writer for the Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio.

She is married to Michael Morgan, assistant to the president at Samford University, and resides in Birmingham.
