2/10/2011 - Alumnae begin prayer journey for JC

Judson College alumna Carol May, current president of the Judson College Alumnae Association, had the idea of asking Judson alumnae around the world to pray for specific needs of the college during each of the 11 weeks leading up to alumnae weekend, or "J-Day" in April.

"Carol is from Mobile, and the Judson alumnae there did this about 10 years ago," said Director of Alumnae Affairs, Jennifer Truelove.

"We asked alumna and current religion adjunct, Mandy McMichael, to put together the prayer journey booklet that highlights 11 needs of the college."

Among the prayer concerns are students, faculty, staff, trustees, admissions representatives and God's blessings for the future as the college nears her 175th anniversary in 2013.

"I know we have at least 150 alumnae who are praying with us since they had to request a copy of the booklet," Truelove said. "But we sent them to students, faculty and staff without asking for a commitment, so there's a large and unknowable number who are praying for us in these weeks."

The Chapel and Christian Ministries Committee has begun highlighting the prayer focus of the week in the weekly chapels each Tuesday.

Copies of the prayer journal can be obtained without charge from the alumnae office at 334.683.5167 or by e-mailing jtruelove@judson.edu.
