3/1/2011 - Music Department to present service of worship in Chapel

The Judson College Music Department will present a service of music at Judson the college's chapel service on March 1. Participants will include the Judson Singers, FAITH Ensemble and the Judson Ringers. FAITH members will take leadership roles in the service, such as scripture readings, prayers and the leading of hymns.

Although it is a service of music, a traditional worship format will be observed. The service begins with a sparkling choral introit, "All That Hath Life and Breath," featuring guest soloists Miriam Hart and Dr. Scott Bullard. Scripture readings, hymns and a hand-bell meditation will follow.

FAITH ensemble then performs an anthem setting of Psalm 23, and in place of a spoken message the choir will present selections from the John Rutter "Requiem," featuring soprano Holly Beth Johnston.

The final congregational hymn will be sung with organ accompaniment, augmented by the Judson Ringers.

FAITH then concludes the service with an anthem followed by a spoken benediction.

Dr. Judy Ransom is choral director.

The chapel service begins at 11 and the public is welcomed.
