1/9/2012 - Judson Equine Student Awarded Scholarship

The Alabama Horse Council and the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association have given a $1000 scholarship to Coby Quigley of Valley Grande. Quigley is a junior at Judson College and is majoring in biology with a career goal of equine veterinary medicine.  She competes in both gaited classes and timed events, trains barrel racing prospects and enjoys hitting the trails with family and friends. She also helps organize and run the Bulls and Barrels Rodeo. Quigley is a director and board member for several Alabama horseman associations. The scholarship is funded through sales of the "Cowboy Tag” automobile license plate.

In November Quigley and her son, Owen, attended the Pine Level Horseman's Association and Midstate Horseman's Association banquets.  Owen received a championship buckle for PLHA-judged event in his age group, and was named a MSHA- judged event reserve champion. Quigley was awarded a championship buckle for MSHA reserve in the adult division, as well as other awards for the timed event division based on overall points earned during the 2011 show season. The Quigleys represented the Midstate Horseman's Association by qualifying and showing at the Alabama Open Horseman's Association state show last September.
