11/2/2011 - Judson College Recognizes Employees on Work Anniversaries

Judson College held its annual Employee Recognition Convocation on Nov. 1. Students, faculty and staff gathered at the usual chapel hour, and President David Potts presented gifts to honorees.

'This is always a special time for me when we express gratitude to our employees," Potts said. “I’ve done this for 20 years and I’m happy to honor those who labor here in the cause of Christian higher education, especially for women.”  Potts said that work is an honorable thing and there is value in being faithful to tasks given us each day. "The work these folk do here is like a pebble dropped in a calm pool," he said. "The ripples travel ever outward, and the good work done here continues to impact our world."

Five year honorees included computer support employee Paula Arnold, facilities staffer Alexander Mims, business instructor and staff accountant Jo Ann Morina and artist-in-residence Dr. Billie Jean Young.

Ten year honorees included athletic director Lee Jones and head-of-security Lue Gene Wright.

Equine director Jennifer Hoggle was honored for 15 years of service. Hoggle is also a Judson alumna.

Professor of music Dr. Betty Campbell was honored for 35 years of service.

Forty-five year honorees included chemistry professor Dr. George Williams and facilities staffer Eva Lou Cannon.

Following the convocation Potts hosted a luncheon for honorees and their families.
