3/14/2012 - Judson College Hosts Regional Horse Show

Judson College was host for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's Western show on Feb. 18.

 

Teams from Zone 5 Region 2 participated, including Berry College, Clemson University, Georgia Tech, Judson College, Lander University and North Georgia College.

 

Katie Beeman, of Hurley, Miss., placed fifth in Novice Western Horsemanship and Christina Duke of Vestavia placed reserve.

 

Shelby Crews of Greenville placed sixth in intermediate II Western horsemanship and Kate Baxter of New Milford, Conn., placed second.

 

Jana Davenport of Jemison placed fourth in walk/trot/canter, Rylee Parnell of Tibbie place fifth and Lindy Cowart of Brandon, Miss. placed sixth.

 

In the second show, Andrea Luckie of Alexander City placed second in advanced Western horsemanship. Duke placed second and Beeman placed sixth in the novice class.

 

Crews placed first and Baxter placed fifth in the intermediate class.

 

In the walk/trot class, Cowart placed second, Davenport placed third and Rebecca O’Neal of Chatom placed fifth.

 

Judson equine coaches Jennifer Hoggle and Janice Williams said they were proud of both the hunt seat and western teams and can boast of having riders qualified for regional competition in both the hunt seat and western divisions.
