11/11/2012 - Judson College Equestrian Team Competes at Berry College
By Jennifer Hoggle The Judson College Equestrian Team members competed in both hunt seat and Western shows Oct. 20-21 at Berry College in Rome, Ga. Other competitors included Berry, Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Kennesaw State University, Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, North Georgia College and State University, the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia.
During the first hunter show, junior Olivia Breimhorst of Gardendale placed first in class 2A, section 1, beginner, walk, trot canter. Junior Madelyn King of Collierville, Tenn., placed second, and sophomore Kayla Syck of Tallassee placed sixth. In class 2A, section 2 freshman Veronica Primavera of Deatsville placed second.
During the first Western show, freshman Mary Kilpatrick of Dothan placed first in novice, class 13 and freshman Bri Hunter of Somerville placed second. Junior Jana Davenport of Jemison placed second in class 12A, intermediate I and senior Lindy Cowart of Brandon, Miss., placed third.
In class 11, beginner, sophomore, Rylee Parnell of Tibee placed
second and sophomore Kayla Brasher of Jemison placed third. During the second Western show, Mary Kilpatrick placed third in class 13, and Bri Hunter placed fifth. Junior Shelby Crews of Greenville placed third in class 12. Lindy Cowart placed second in class 12A and Jana Davenport placed fourth. Rylee Parnell placed fifth in class 11.
During the second hunter show, Olivia Breimhorst placed reserve
in class 2B, advanced, walk, trot canter. Veronica Primavera placed first,
Kayla Syck placed fourth and Madelyn King placed fifth. Junior Faith Williams of Crossville represented Judson in the hunt seat division in the novice equitation and novice over fence classes. Junior Christina Duke of Vestavia Hills was unable to compete due to a sprained ankle.
