Annual Minister’s Golf Tournament to be held at Judson

Judson College will sponsor its 55th annual Ministers’ Golf Tournament May 15-16 on the Marion Military Institute golf course. The event is open to all ministers serving Alabama Baptist Convention churches or agencies, including pastors, ministers of youth, music, and education.

After a busy Easter season and spring church calendar activities, the tournament functions as a restorative outlet for Alabama Baptist ministers, according to Judson President David Potts. “It is so very important for those in ministry to have some down-time,” said Potts.

Citing the 2016 tournament’s multi-generational “fellowship and camaraderie”, Potts encouraged attending ministers from across the state to invite first-time guests to May’s event for “relaxation, rejuvenation, good food, and, of course, friendly competition”.

An assortment of prizes provided by local businesses will be awarded at the tournament’s traditional banquet dinner Monday evening. Flights will be assigned after Monday’s round, and prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners in each flight and to the senior champion. Prizes will also be given for closest to the pin, longest drive, birdies, and eagles. Special hole-in-one prizes will be offered, including $10,000 cash and a $500 VISA gift card.  Additionally, each tournament participant will receive a coupon for a free golf club.

The registration fee of $95 includes meals, lodging, linens, green fees, and carts. A $10 discount will be given to previous participants who refer a golfer who did not attend the 2016 tournament but who does attend the 2017 tournament.
