Disenchanted musical to be presented at Judson Nov. 10-12

Judson College will present the off-Broadway hit musical, Disenchanted, November 10-12. Performed on the stage of the historic Alumnae Auditorium on the Judson campus in Marion, Ala., Disenchanted puts a new “spin” on well-known fairy tales. In Disenchanted, “Disney princesses” challenge the “sugar-coated” versions of their stories often portrayed in movies for maximum profit and present instead the raw realities of their original stories. In an empowering reflection upon heritage and womanhood, the princesses are played by a diverse cast of characters who work hard to shatter the “Princess Complex.” Characters include Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and other princesses made popular by Disney.  Nine of Judson College’s best, including soloists and seasoned actors, make up the cast of this frolicking musical that has been adapted for general audiences. Disenchanted is directed by Dr. Billie Jean Young, Judson College Artist-in-Residence, with musical direction by Dr. Camilla Horne, Assistant Professor of Music.

Curtain time is at 7:00 P.M. each evening. The play is open to the public. Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased at the door. Admission is free for Judson students. For further information about the play or the cast, contact Dr. Billie Jean Young at 334-683-5288.
