Huntseat Team competes in first show of the season

The huntseat team had a successful first show at the IHSA Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia at Serenity Creek Equestrian Center. Competing at the show was Berry College, Emory University, Georgia College, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Judson College, Mississippi College, the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia, and the University of North Georgia. Two shows were held over the weekend of October 18-19, 2014

On Saturday, in Walk/Trot/Canter, junior Katie McQuaig of Cumming, GA placed 6th. In Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, sophomore Alex Huber of Mechanicsburg, PA placed 2nd.  In another section of Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, senior Katelyn Vanhoozer of Waco, TX placed 4th.

On Sunday, freshman Candace Paige of Gadsden placed reserve in Novice Equitation. Tifani Pitts of Montgomery, also a freshman, placed 4th in another section of Novice Equitation, and 6th in Novice Over Fences. Freshman Sara Alsabrook of Centreville placed reserve in Walk/Trot/Canter. Katie McQuaig placed 4th in another section of Walk/Trot/Canter, and Katelyn Vanhoozer placed 1st in Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, and Alex Huber placed 2nd in another section of Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter. Alex pointed up, and will be competing in class Walk/Trot/Canter at the next show. Way to go Alex!

“We had a great first show, with our new team members enjoying their rides and our upperclassmen placing well. Looking forward to Berry!”, says Janice Palmer-Williams, coach of the huntseat team.

The teams will ride next at Berry College, with huntseat competing November 1st  and 2nd, and the western team competing the afternoon of November 2nd. Good luck girls!
