Judson IHSA Western Team begins 2015-2016 season

untitledJudson’s Western Team members made a strong start to their season with ribbons at their season’s first IHSA show in Dahlonega, Ga.

Judson College’s 2015-2016 IHSA season began on September 26th at Epiphany Farms in Dahlonega, Georgia. Judson’s Western team members won ribbons in Zone 5, Region 2 horse shows against the hosting team, the University of Georgia, and fellow competitors from Auburn University, Berry College, and Georgia Tech.

Senior Mary Kilpatrick of Dothan, Ala., won reserve high point rider in the 2nd show.

Senior Kricket Wise of Pensacola, Fla, and sophomores Chloe Guy of Navarre, Fla, and Laurin Smith of Gurley Reserve, Ala., were all first time competitors for Judson, and all received ribbons for their accomplishments.

The results are as follows:

1st show:
Class 15, Open Horsemanship:
3rd – Mary Kilpatrick, Senior, Dothan, Ala.

Class 16, Open Reining:
3rd – Mary Kilpatrick

Class 14, Advanced Horsemanship:
4th – Alex Huber, Junior, Mechanicsburg, Penn.

Class 13, Novice Horsemanship:
5th –  Kricket Wise, Senior, Pensacola, Fla.

Class 12B, Intermediate II Horsemanship:
6th – Chloey Guy, Freshman, Navarre, Fla.
6th – Laurin Smith, Freshman, Gurley Reserve, Ala.,
6th – Emily Dickerson, Junior, Madison, Ala.

2nd show:
Reserve High Point Rider: Mary Kilpatrick

4th – Mary Kilpatrick

Class 16, Open Reining:
2nd –  Mary Kilpatrick

Class 14, Advanced Horsemanship:

Western Team Coach Jennifer Hoggle praised the team’s weekend performance: “The Judson equestrians did an amazing job of working together as a team at their first show of the season. We believe they will continue to do well in competition throughout this show season and look forward to the next show!” The team’s next Western competition will be held at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, the first weekend in November.
