Judson student contracts with Army ROTC program

On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, Cadet Amanda Veara was contracted with the Army ROTC Program activating her three-year Army ROTC scholarship to complete out her studies at Judson College. Lieutenant Colonel Gregory H. Wall, Professor of Military Science, Marion Military Institute administered the oath of office on the MMI Chapel steps in front of the entire Bold Tiger Battalion.

Amanda is a sophomore majoring in Equestrian Science and will earn her commission as an Army 2nd Lieutenant after completion of her Bachelor’s Degree at Judson. In addition to her academic studies, she attends military science classes and leadership labs at Marion Military Institute, the host institution for Judson’s ROTC program. In addition to her Army ROTC activities, Amanda is a member of the Judson Soccer team, was recently inducted into the Scabbard and Blade Military National Honor Society, and serves in the Alabama National Guard with the 186th Engineer Company of Dothan, Ala.

Army ROTC scholarship covers 100% tuition costs in addition to a monthly living allowance. To qualify for an Army ROTC scholarship, students must have at least two (2) academic years of college remaining and meet the following criteria: U.S. citizenship; between the ages of 17-26; GPA of 2.5 or higher; SAT of 920 or higher (Math/verbal) or ACT of 19 or higher; meet physical standards; and agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or Reserve Component.
