“Simply Southern” films segment at Judson Equine Center

The statewide network television show “Simply Southern” visited the Judson College campus in Marion, Ala. last week to film an episode segment at the Piper Equine Center.

The segment’s focus is the Judson College Equine Science program, as well as its Intercollegiate Horse Show Association riding teams. The “Simply Southern” crew interviewed several Judson administrators, as well as students Tara Kamphuis of Strathmore, Alberta (Canada) and Kirsten Britnell of Hoover, Ala. The segment will also feature footage of the Piper Equine Center facility, which includes a 30-stall clear span barn, classroom space, an outdoor arena, and one of the largest covered arenas in the state.

Dr. Pamela Mitcham, Head of Judson’s Equine Science Department, is “proud that the [Equine Science] program is gaining recognition and exposure in the equine industry on a broader scale–such that the Alabama Farmers Cooperative contacted us to come and film the feature on our program.”

The episode featuring the Judson segment will air Sunday, March 19. “Simply Southern” airs at 6 a.m. CST Sundays in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Dothan, and at 6:30 a.m. CST in Mobile and Columbus, Ga. See station scheduling here.

Produced by the Alabama Farmers Cooperative and the Alabama Farmers Federation, “Simply Southern” is “dedicated to agriculture and rural living” and uncovering the state’s stories and “hidden treasures”.  For more information about the show or to watch previous episodes, visit simplysoutherntv.net.
