The Division of Social Sciences encompasses a broad spectrum of fields of study: Business, Criminal Justice, Education, and Psychology. Each is a professional area which prepares young women for the workforce, graduate school, and life in general. Each area's students have the ability to make a difference in the world through teaching, counseling, protecting the home front and civil rights, or running a small business.
Each area provides some form of interaction with professionals in their area. This may be through internships, field experiences, field trips, speakers, and/or local, state or national conferences. Networking is important in today's work environment and every attempt is made to expose our young women to those who can provide tips and help to succeed in the future.
Clubs within the division include Psych-Key (Psychology), Sigma Beta Delta and Students in Free Enterprise (Business), Kappa Delta Epsilon (Education), and Alpha Phi Sigma (Criminal Justice). Many of these organizations actively participate in University sponsored activities such as Habitat for Humanity, scholarship day, and regional and national conferences. Past destinations have included Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Chicago.
Students in all areas have successful careers in teaching (some have been named "Teacher of the Year," counseling, law enforcement, and business. Many have successfully applied to and been accepted to graduate school.
