Larissa Clachar, from San Jose, Costa Rica, received her bachelor of arts degree from Judson College in 2006, master of arts degree from the University of Alabama in 2008, and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama in 2016. Her interests include history, culture and identity. Her research focuses on 19th Century Transatlantic Studies, the Latin American Foundational Novel, and Naturalism. She has taught Spanish and English for over twelve years. At the high school level her experience includes Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL and Ecole Active Bilingue in Paris, France. At the college level she has taught at ULACIT in San Jose, Costa Rica and at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.
