Dr. Pamela Boliew serves as Assistant Professor and Department Head of Equine Science (EQS). She teaches all classroom lecture courses in the EQS department. Dr. Boliew is a native of Bossier City, Louisiana and studied Animal Sciences at Louisiana State University, completing her doctorate there in 2012. While in graduate school, Dr. Boliew conducted research in multiple areas related to the care and health of horses, but focused primarily on reproductive physiology in the mare. She has published research in the Journal of Animal Science, the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science and Domestic Animal Endocrinology and presented novel research at many conferences. While pursuing her graduate education, Dr. Boliew taught classes in the College of Agriculture at LSU. She was awarded the Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award by Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture. She was also awarded the Graduate Student Teaching Award of Merit by North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture. Upon graduation, Dr. Boliew worked in clinical research in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Boliew is a life-long lover of horses. She started riding at age four and has ridden in multiple disciplines. Her family owned racehorses, and she worked on several farms in south Louisiana during college, breaking and training horses as well as working on a breeding farm in Caldwell, Texas. She serves as President of the Alabama Horse Council and on the Alabama 4H State Horse Show Committee. She also has served the last three years as National Advisor for the American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association.  She also stays busy with her two adorable children, who both love horses as well!
