Judson College Authors Symposium

The Judson College Authors Symposium highlights the contributions of Judson College alumnae to Alabama’s literary legacy, both in the state and beyond. While celebrating more than one hundred published authors who were enrolled at Judson College since its founding in 1838, the symposium will closely examine the work of five Judson authors. Presentations on highlighted authors will include Mary Ward Brown, presented by Wayne Flynt (retired – Auburn University); Gwen Bristow, presented by Mary Amelia Taylor (Judson); Zitella Cocke presented by Jennifer Beck (UAB); Caroline Dormon, presented by Carolyn Woosley (Louisiana playwright), and Viola Goode Liddell, presented by Tennant McWilliams (UAB).

The symposium will be held in Ramsay-McCrummen Chapel in Jewett Hall on the Judson College campus in Marion, Ala., on October 23, 2019. The event is free and open to the public. An on-campus lunch will be available for purchase at $35 per plate. Luncheon reservations may be made by calling Beth Poole, Alumnae Director, at 334-683-5167 by October 10, 2019. High school groups who wish to attend and bring sack lunches must request a lunch location with Beth Poole at 334-683-5167.
