Athens, GA- The University of Georgia held its annual Fall Classic on October 19 and 20 at Silverthorn Farm in Athens, Ga. Intercollegiate Horse Show Association teams from Berry College, Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Judson College, Kennesaw State University, Mississippi College, University of Alabama, and University of Georgia competed in the show.
In the first show, in Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter, Judson sophomore Veronica Primavera of Deatsville placed first, making her eligible to move up to Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation. Junior Kayla Syck of Wetumpka placed third, senior Rebecca Malphurs of Dothan placed fourth, and freshman Sheila Palmer of Hoover placed fifth. Freshman Taylor Cason of Warrior also placed fifth in another division of the same class, and freshman Alex Huber of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, placed sixth. In Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation, sophomore Katie McQuaig of Cumming, Georgia, placed third, and senior Olivia Breimhorst of Warrior placed fourth.
In Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter in the second show, Syck placed third and Malphurs placed fifth. Huber and junior Megan Walker of Pell City also placed fifth in other divisions of the same class, and sophomore Katelyn Vanhoozer of Waco, Texas, placed sixth. In Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation, McQuaig placed second and Breimhorst placed third.
“The girls have worked hard for this show, and I’m looking forward to helping them improve as the season progresses,” said Janice Williams, Judson Huntseat coach.
