Meeting in a called session, the Judson College Board of Trustees unanimously appointed Mrs. Daphne Rudicell Robinson as the 24th president of Judson College. Mrs. Robinson will begin her duties July 19, 2021.
A native of Alabama, Mrs. Robinson graduated from Fairhope High School before completing a B.A. in History at Judson College in 1988 and a Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law in 1991. Mrs. Robinson was the Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alabama from April 1995 until she retired March 2020. In this role, Mrs. Robinson supervised both the child support and child welfare/adult service offices in Mobile County, Alabama. Mrs. Robinson is also a former staff attorney for Legal Services Corporation of Alabama.
Mrs. Robinson has returned service to her alma mater for many years, having been a member of the Board of Trustees at Judson College since 2000. In this role, Mrs. Robinson held the offices of Secretary and Vice-Chair. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the presidential search committee and the executive committee of the Board. Mrs. Robinson also chaired the finance, by-laws and admissions committees.
Outgoing president, Dr. Mark Tew, said of Mrs. Robinson, “There is no better person to see Judson through its last hours. I have known Daphne since she was a student and have observed her rise to every occasion of responsibility with duty, dignity and dispatch. I applaud the Board’s decision and will render any assistance she requests in the transition.

Daphne is married to Steve Robinson, and they are members of Daphne Baptist Church, where she serves on the finance and cemetery committees.
